About the client
WEcreate is a Danish commercial photography and video production company that has been providing innovative visual communication solutions to some of the world’s most powerful brands, including Carlsberg, L’Oréal, and Saint Laurent, since 2012.
In 2013, the company expanded its operations by opening Militærfoto. Militærfoto is the official photographer of the Danish Royal Life Guard and a majority of Denmark’s army regiments. It is responsible for capturing both portraits and action photos of soldiers on training exercises. Danish soldiers can purchase these photos as a way to remember and honor their time in service. In addition to providing a physical product, Militærfoto also aims to provide positive memories associated with Danish soldiers’ service, such as pride and honor.
CHALLENGEs
Militærfoto maintained the photographs on WordPress with 3rd party plugins hosted in a shared environment. This system resulted in multiple issues. One of the challenges was that the system couldn’t handle multiple user requests at the same time.
Secondly, onboarding a user required redundant manual steps, which resulted in a less efficient business model. Denormalized and non-associated data made it difficult to use the system effectively for administrators and end users. In addition, the system lacked a dashboard for consolidated reports, making it difficult for system administrators and end users to view all the data in one place.
The notifications and payments were also being tracked manually, which often led to mistakes and inconsistencies.
SOLUTIONS
Codora proposed a monolithic web application that was designed to automate manual processes and make the system more efficient for administrators and end users. The application was divided into three sections: the admin panel, the photographers’ interface, and the end-user section.
The Admin Panel provides administrators with various features to manage their data, such as product management, project management, end-user management, etc. It provides a consolidated dashboard for reporting purposes, providing quick access to the data. It allows administrators to manage and track notifications and payments. QR codes were introduced to sign-up users, which solved the major manual user registration process. Moreover, individual profiles were set up for the end-users, which gave users easy access to their photos and the option to subscribe to products.
The website for Militærfoto was overhauled in design and technology to improve the user experience. For flexibility, since the team at Militærfoto was accustomed to managing their website content through a WordPress platform, we developed a solution using Laravel that allowed them to continue managing their most important content via an admin panel.
Our team worked diligently and completed the entire solution within the agreed budget and timeframe.
